Our soft-based “Elan” style provides superior comfort with the ultimate in security. Elan models set the standard for excellence which all others have tried to achieve. Here’s why: The unsurpassed realism of the Elan surgical silicone skin recreates the appearance and feel of the human scalp. A specially treated liner improves comfort. We use only the finest, hand-selected, 100% European hair, selected to match the color and texture you desire. A laced front hairline improves the ability for styling, for contouring in the temples, and for a more customized fit. Each Elan hair addition is handcrafted from more than 140,000 hairs inserted one at a time, to create a look that nature intended.
For women with very thin hair, partial or short-term hair loss, or for women who just desire to change their hair style, the Custom Select is for you. Work with Julie to pick the most appropriate color, density and length, and to ensure a perfect fit for comfort and security. These exquisite, handcrafted hair additions recreate the natural effect of hair growth with the directional flow of hair and uniform fullness from roots to ends.
The Custom Integration design, unlike a standard full “wig”, allows your own hair to be brushed through it’s web-like base to blend it with the added hair to achieve the desired look. Custom Integration is recommended for women with thin hair who would like to add fullness and length, and to women with an eye to fashion to change their style and color. It is also the preferred alternative to hair extensions for those with fragile hair. Because it is designed specifically for you, new hair can be added to areas that require special attention.
I started having hair loss at age six. At age eight, it was coming out in patches, then at 14, I lost it all. My self-esteem was damaged because others did not understand my condition, and I was teased a lot as a child. I wore synthetic wigs and cheaper versions of hairpieces ordered through mail-order catalogs. Then Dr. Barbara Drucker, a dermatologist in Santa Cruz, gave me information about Reallusions, and I called for a consultation. I was very comfortable with Julie, seeing the sample pieces and the products she had to offer. I was relieved, excited and so happy because I felt so comfortable with the atmosphere in her salon. No one has ever noticed that I’m wearing a hairpiece. Even hairstylists compliment me on my color and my hair. This has changed my life. With my vacuum piece, I can swim and drive in a convertible and feel free.
My hair problem started in my late twenties. Within two months I had lost all my hair. I was diagnosed with Alopecia Totalis. Eventually my condition went to Alopecia Universalis, meaning I lost all body hair; eyelashes, brows, etc. It was devastating, I was afraid to go out of the house, I just felt like hiding. Julie was recommended to me by a salon in San Francisco. Julie set me up with a human hair custom fit scalp prosthesis. The hair is beautiful, and it can be cut, styled and colored. I absolutely love my new hair and style. It looks and feels like my real hair. I can snow ski, ride my bike, and even swim without fear of my hair falling off. A Vacuum Fit hairpiece not only changes your life, but enhances the quality of life.
I have suffered from Trichotilomania (thinning) for about 40 years, not to mention hormonal changes and damage to my scalp from prior salons. In my job, I was visible to the public, and felt embarrassment. Swimming in particular was practically impossible. It affected my confidence. I wore a short haircut styled to cover the thin spots, and I wore regular human-hair wigs, and even those didn’t look real. Julie recommended the Custom Integration process. We attached the hair by sewing it to my braided hair. I was hopeful but skeptical at first, I was concerned about it not being secure enough. After a couple of years, we added the clips. I now love them; they keep the piece secure--even in my convertible! Julie is so compassionate. She really put me at ease. I get comments constantly on my cute cut and color. It makes me smile every time. Thanks, Julie!
I have alopecia arreata, an autoimmune disease. My own body causes the hair loss. None of the treatments offered by dermatologists have helped in the long term. It’s been difficult watching my hair fall out; it makes me uncomfortable at work and in social situations. I covered my problem with hats and scarves. A coworker shared her own experience, and recommended Julie. She was sensitive, answered all my questions, discussed different options, and even offered to put me in touch with other women in similar situations. I was initially suspicious about the cost and quality, of how it would change my appearance, or how much time it would involve every morning. I would encourage anyone going through this to consult Julie sooner rather than later. I never felt any pressure, and she gave me as much time as I needed. When I was ready, I knew she was the one to design my hairpiece. I regularly get compliments, friends tell me it looks very natural. I forget I have it on, it’s already part of my routine, easier than styling my own hair when I had it.
